This summer has been a hot one and lately, everyone is talking about sweaters and pumpkins. I would like to remind our Ontario friends that winter for us, ended in April. I am not ready to say goodbye to summer just yet.

With that said, what better way to celebrate the sunshine than with burgers and delicious Ontario beer. Naturally, any burger event at my house would not be complete without wrinkles, fur, and maybe a little beer tasting by Otis.

Let’s savour the summer and put a hold on those spice lattes. Please enjoy the Rawco Team’s list of favourite beers for this summer and my basil burger recipe. Don’t worry, they are completely dog friendly – should anything be dropped or if your guests like to sneak snacks under the table!

Rawco’s Beers for Burgering

1. Hop Bot IPA by Hop City Brewing Co.
2. Cruiser All Day Pale Ale by Amsterdam Brewery
3. Detour by Muskoka Brewery
4. Mad Tom Unfiltered IPA by Muskoka Brewery
5. Steam Whistle’s Pilsner

Marisa’s “Safe for dogs (if dropped)” Basil Burger

You will need:
– 2-3 pounds of ground beef (don’t use lean or extra lean)
– 3 garlic cloves, chopped
– 1/4 cup of basil,  chopped
– 1/2 of a red bell pepper, chopped
– Olive oil, eye ball it
– 1 egg
***salt & pepper the hell out of it

Mash all together to make patties.

In our house, we believe burgers are best done on a charcoal grill. So get your bricks a burnin’, pour a frosty one, and start cooking the night away. Cheers!
